Dear Families,
As you know, GPA underwent lockdown procedures last week due to a disturbance from our surrounding community. As a general practice at GPA, we will always analyze our emergency responses and make improvements where needed. GPA leaders met with staff immediately following the emergency, and information was shared that will further improve our emergency response.
Parents, you will be happy to know that according to some of the responding police officers who were on the scene the day of our lockdown, GPA’s lockdown response was the best that they had ever seen at a school campus. Students remained completely silent as they hid from sight, and GPA’s campus had the appearance of being completely empty.
San Diego County Deputy Sheriff Blumenshine added this in a recent follow-up email:
“I wanted to reach out to let you know what an excellent job the staff and students did on that day. They may not have realized it but by locking down so efficiently and remaining quiet they helped us out tremendously.”
GPA is proud of our students and staff for taking safety seriously. We know that as parents, your child’s safety is of top importance for you as well. We would like to thank you for trusting in GPA, and for the many ways that YOU contribute to our safe campus, including on that important day last week.
