On April 10th, 2014 the Assistant Secretary of International Affairs and Chief Diplomatic Officer for the Department of Homeland Security, Alan D. Bersin, visited Gompers Preparatory Academy. Mr. Bersin was greeted by Juniors and Seniors from Gompers Prep who met him with a smile and a firm handshake. During his visit he announced the Mildred and Arthur Bersin Scholarship which will be awarded to students from Gompers Preparatory Academy, Abraham Lincoln High School, and the Pruess School who are accepted into Harvard University. He delivered a heartfelt, inspirational speech to GPA students in a College Class, toured classrooms, and spoke with countless GPA students and staff.
