On Tuesday, September 15, Gompers Preparatory Academy hosted special visitors from UC San Diego. Dr. Becky Petitt, Vice Chancellor for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion and John Jacinto Duca, Director of Development, Campus Initiatives/Diversity. Dr. Petitt and Mr. Duca observed as GPA students were welcomed to school with “Terrific Tuesday“ singing and dancing, greeted students as they entered the Gates of Wisdom, talked in-depth with the Class of 2016 Senior Captains and counseling team, visited classrooms, and watched a preview of the upcoming Open House charity show. On multiple occasions, Dr. Petitt and Mr. Duca expressed that they were very impressed with our students and staff and how much GPA has accomplished in our first 10 years. They committed to looking for additional ways to deepen our partnership to benefit our current students and our Chancellor’s Associates Scholars currently attending UCSD.
